I feel for your loyalty to Harley. 'My' cat Daisy recently passed away too. She was 20+ years old! I felt I had abandoned her after leaving for college ten years ago and never returning Home (well, not permanently anyhow). And this, after she had spent all of her life hanging with me through grade school and beyond. But I can also relate to your sense of relief.

I'm sorry about Daisy. It's never easy. Why do humans do this to themselves? Take these creatures in - love them - knowing full well they aren't going to live very long (relatively speaking)? I guess it's for the unconditional love that they give us. It's so uncomplicated. We are the ones that complicate things, it seems.
